Narration: François Pelletier has a large family. There are five sons and six daughters, and there is work for all. His sons help him on the farm and his daughters aid their mother in the many duties of the house. When his ancestors first came to Canada and carved their homestead out of the forest, they had only themselves to rely on. Both men and women in those isolated communities were accustomed to make everything and do everything themselves. And it is still so today. The self-reliant tradition of the pioneers lives on in the family of François Pelletier.
